Scholarship Policy of Tabor Heights United Methodist Church

Tabor Heights UMC wishes to recognize and encourage those of our wider church family who are pursuing education after high school.  We have designated funds* for providing a gift to assist those wishing to further their education:

  1. Applications are available on a Quarterly basis.  Applicants start by filling out the application form.

  2. The scholarship/gift is available to anyone who has an active relationship with THUMC and their family members.

  3. As long as there are sufficient funds available, $1,000 will be made available each quarter (Jan-March, April-June, July-Sept, Oct.-Dec). The maximum awarded to each applicant is $250 per quarter.  If the number of applicants exceeds four, the $1,000 will be evenly divided between the applicants. The money unused each quarter will return to the scholarship fund.

  4. This is a gift and there is no expectation that it be repaid.  We do encourage our members to consider donations to replenish the fund.

  5. The gift will be given to the applicant to be used by them as they determine.

  6. Applicants may reapply for the scholarship each term or semester they are planning to attend.

  7. The scholarship is available for any post high school education ( i.e. college, community college, trade school, etc.)

  8. The applications will be reviewed by the pastor and staff, and presented to the governing board for approval.

*’Roscoe fund’ is in a separate account that not use for this policy.
